Excellence and happiness for all

Year 4

The Year 4 Class Teachers are Miss Matthews, Mrs Johnson and Mrs Sims.

Mrs Nunns also helps us. Our doors are open from 8.40am to 8.50am, please feel free to catch us then or at the end of the day. You can also leave a note in your child’s home-school book.

We cover the National Curriculum 2014 objectives for Year 4 and have three cross-curricular themes throughout the year:

Also included is: Summer Term: Out ‘n’ About (Geography and History based Local Study)

In Year 4, children are expected to complete a few short tasks each week, to support their learning in school. They also have the option of completing theme-related homework.

Regular reading to an adult or themselves – there is a direct link between reading regularly and doing well in school. This should be recorded in their Reading Records.

Talk homework for a Big Write – Talk homework sheets will be handed out at least once a month. Children are encouraged to discuss their ideas at home but can also make notes or draw pictures to use during the Big Write.

Practise weekly spellings – children should practise for 5-10 minutes at least 3 times a week or until they know them. Spellings will be handed out on Mondays, and tested the following Monday.

My Maths tasks set by the teacher – don’t forget, your child can log in to complete tasks of their own choosing, too.
